BUT wherefore do not you a mightier way Make war upon this bloody tyrant, Time? And fortify yourself in your decay With means more blessèd than my barren rime? Now stand you on the top of happy hours, And many maiden gardens, yet unset, With virtuous wish would bear your living flowers, Much liker than your painted counterfeit: So should the lines of life that life repair Which this time's pencil or my pupil pen, Neither in inward worth nor outward fair Can make you live yourself in eyes of men. To give away yourself keeps yourself still, And you must live, drawn by your own sweet skill.

What you are you do not see, what you see is your shadow. 19

My wishes are fools, they shout across thy song, my Master. Let me but listen. 20

I cannot choose the best. The best chooses me.

1、A man is not old as long as he is seeking something. A man is not old until regrets take the place of dreams (J. Barrymore)

As long as you've offered this sports car, I'll accept it.

I'll let her go as long as you give me ten thousand pounds.

I'll let her go provided that you give me ten thousand pounds.

The computer is taking the place of TV in our lives. The word "replace" could take the place of "take the place of" in the above example. 在上面的例句中,take the place of也可以用replace代替。

2、A good education gives a man a great pull.

Pull通常情况下都做动词,有拖、拉、牵的意思;但是这里的pull是名词用法,它的意思是influence, informal special influence that gives you some advantage(有利条件,影响力)。

The name of his family gives him a lot of pull in this town.

3、Take no thought for tomorrow.

4、The course of true love never did run smooth.

Smooth-free from problems or difficulties,

Trees J.Kilmer I think that I shall J.Kilmernever see A poem lovely as a tree. A tree whose hungry mouth is prest against the earth's sweet flowing breast; A tree that looks at God all day, And lifts her leafy arms to pray; A tree that may in summer wear A nest of robins in her hair; Upon whose bosom snow has lain; Who intimately lives with the rain. Poems are made by fools like me, But only God can make a tree. THE NEW YEAR Ring out, wild bells,to the wild sky, The flying cloud, the frosty light: The year is dying in the night; Ring out, wild bells, and let him die. Ring out the old, ring in the new, Ring, happy bells, across the snow: The year is going, let him go; Ring out the false, ring in the true.
